📓 Course overview

The Baltic States - Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania - have been independent for nearly 33 years. They’re unlikely democratic success stories, at the forefront of a potential global conflict between democracies and autocracies, and some of the best innovators in participatory democracy. This course will explore the Baltics through topics related to democracy and across two four-week modules, one based at Vilnius University in Lithuania, and the other at the University of Tartu in Estonia. By the end of the course, you will better understand the Baltics, their pathways and futures in democracy, and how to assess the state of democracy there and elsewhere.
